...today I did not know where I was,
who I was, or what day and time it was.
Coming out of a too-short nap
too late in the day,
I had to scour my brain to find myself.
It was not scary, more like
diving in the deep end of the pool
to find a sparkling quarter.
Kicking, pulling, grabbing at the coin,
the lack of air uncomfortable, but not painful.
Then snatching, having,
your legs tucking into your chest,
then catapulting off the bottom,
exhaling everything in you,
until you reach the surface.
